Andrew Zimmern
Andrew Zimmern is a James Beard and Emmy-winning television host, chef, author and passionate advocate for recovery, second chances and social change.
As the creator and host of the groundbreaking Bizarre Foods franchise, Andrew helped redefine food and travel television, spending decades exploring culture through food. His acclaimed shows, including The Zimmern List, What's Eating America, Family Dinner and Wild Game Kitchen, reflect his belief in the power of storytelling to build understanding, foster connection and inspire change.
His commitment to helping others is deeply personal. After struggling with addiction and alcoholism, Andrew experienced homelessness before an intervention led him to treatment at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in Minnesota. His recovery became the foundation for rebuilding his life and continues to shape his belief in the power of community, compassion and access to support.
Today, Andrew uses his platform to advocate for people facing addiction, homelessness, food insecurity and other significant challenges. He established the Andrew Zimmern Second Chances Scholarship to help individuals overcome barriers and pursue careers in the culinary arts. He also serves on numerous nonprofit boards, including Services for the UnderServed, Giving Kitchen and Autism Speaks, and is a Global Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations World Food Programme.
Through his advocacy and philanthropy, Andrew champions dignity, opportunity and the belief that everyone deserves a chance to rebuild their life.
